Adam Strachan (born 24 February 1987) is a Scottish professional footballer who currently plays for Glenafton Athletic in the Scottish Junior Football Association, West Region. Strachan came through the youth system at Partick Thistle and played almost 90 matches for the senior side, including a season in the Scottish Premier League. Since leaving Thistle, Strachan has only played in the Scottish Football League, with such sides as Ross County, Dumbarton, Albion Rovers, Clyde, Stenhousemuir and latterly Arbroath as well as in Junior football with Clydebank and Irvine Meadow. ==Career== He was a product of the Partick Thistle youth system, having been signed from Partick Thistle Boys Club. Thought to have a huge future ahead of him, Strachan was man of the match in his debut as a 16-year-old in an SPL mach against Livingston.〔(Ex-Partick Thistle footballer caught in possession of heroin is sacked by his latest club as he faces return to prison )〕 In season 2006–07 he was a key player and fans favourite but the following season because of Stevie Murray he did not feature in the team regularly and was never a first pick under Ian McCall. He left Partick Thistle by mutual consent in December 2007, ending a near four-year stint with the club. He then joined Ross County on 2 January 2008 Adam played 42 games scoring 8 goals for Ross County and was a key player in their squad both during Ross Countys period in the Scottish Second Division and in the First Division but after an alleged incident with his girlfriend he was released. In July 2009, Strachan went on trial with First Division rivals Greenock Morton. He made his first appearance as a substitute in Austria, scoring the Inverclyde side's consolation goal in a 6–1 defeat by Slovakian champions Slovan Bratislava. In September 2009, Strachan signed for Third Division champions Dumbarton. After just two games for ''the Sons'', Strachan was loaned to fellow Third Division side Albion Rovers. After being released by Dumbarton, he signed for Clyde on a free transfer in January 2010. After impressing as a trialist, Strachan signed for Arbroath on 25 February 2011 until the end of the season. After agreeing to sign again at the Third Division champions, he went on holiday and then when he came back he allegedly refused to sign a contract. He then played a couple of trial matches for Junior side Clydebank and later signed a short-term deal with the ''Bankies''. In December 2012, Strachan was jailed for 12 months for possession of knives in the area of Maryhill in Glasgow. He had previously avoided jail for an alleged assault on his girlfriend. He returned to Clydebank following his release from prison in 2013 and before joining Irvine Meadow later that year. Strachan was caught with 28 grams of heroin when police searched his friend's flat in Maryhill, Glasgow and plead guilty in February 2014.
